Make an international call in 3 easy steps 

It may not be the most obvious piece of know-how, but at least it’s a simple one to pick up. Just be sure that your phone is free of any international restrictions before getting started.

1. Exit Code 

To start, you’re going to want to enter the Australian exit code: 0011. Otherwise, you can go ahead and dial ‘+’ by simply holding ‘0’ on your Australian mobile. 

2. Country Code 

Next, you can dial in the country code of the place you’re trying to reach. Many countries tend to have a 3-digit code, but it does vary. 

3. Phone Number 

Finally, you can enter the phone number you’re wanting to call, including the area code (being sure to drop the ‘0’ from the area code). 

International dialling example 

Say you wanted to pay a quick call to the New Zealand number 03 123 4567. You would enter: 

0011 + 64 (NZ Country Code) + 3 123 4567

= 0011 64 3 123 4567

OR 

+64 3 123 4567
