If your premises is serviced by nbn Fibre to the Node (FTTN), we can’t confirm your maximum speed up to the nbn Network Boundary Point until your service is connected.
Why? FTTN uses the existing copper telephone line for the last stretch of the connection. And with copper, distance matters — the further your home is from the node, the more it can impact your speed.
Because copper has physical limitations, you might not reach the maximum speeds advertised for your plan. Speeds on FTTN are influenced by several factors including:
- the maximum available line sync rate
- your in-home setup and equipment
- your internal wiring
Once your service is active, we’ll run a line state test with nbn to check whether your connection is delivering speeds within expected specifications.
If there’s an issue or your speed is below the required threshold, we’ll contact you by email within your first month of service.
