If you’re using an Apple iPhone or iPad, your device automatically sends an SMS to activate iMessage with Apple when you first turn it on.
💡 Good news: There’s no charge for the iMessage activation SMS. Telstra Wholesale removed this charge in October 2020.
⚠️ Heads up: Sending iMessages is free once activated, but iMessages use your mobile data — so each message you send will count towards your data allowance.
