Our mobile pricing is changing

Feature Blog Posts | MATE | 17 June 2026

Nobody likes a price increase. We know that, and we don’t take it lightly.

Why is this happening?

Every year, the cost of providing high-quality mobile services in Australia increases. Network infrastructure, compliance obligations, and general inflation are industry-wide pressures every provider is navigating. 2026 is no different.

Good news for card payments

From October 2026, the Reserve Bank of Australia is removing surcharges on debit and credit card payments across all businesses in Australia. So while this price adjustment is happening, you won’t be hit with card surcharges on top. What you see is what you pay.

We’ve kept this increase as small as possible

We always try to absorb what we can and pass on the minimum. It also helps us keep doing what we do: investing in our network, keeping our support team local, and making sure your service stays reliable. Unlimited data, no lock-in contracts, and 7-day Aussie support. That’s not changing.

What’s changing for existing customers?

We’ll be in touch by email with the specific details of what’s changing on your plan and when, before any changes take effect.

πŸ’‘ Tip: All of our mobile plans still come with data banking, unlimited talk & text to standard Aussie numbers, no lock-in contracts, and access to a trusted Australian mobile network.

What’s changing for new customers?

From Friday 31 July 2026, we will offer four mobile plans for sign-up or plan changes:

Plan Monthly price Data Data bank Intl. calls & SMS 5G network

Soul Mates 160GB $60 160GB 1000GB Included to 15 selected countries βœ…

All plans are 5G capable, include unlimited talk & text to standard Australian numbers and have eSIM and international roaming options available.

If you’re a new customer, or you’re an existing customer on a different plan and wish to switch, these will be your available options going forward.

When will this take effect?

For existing MATE customers, changes will apply from sometime in June or July 2026. We’ll send you an email with the exact date before anything changes on your bill.

For new MATE customers, our new mobile plan range will apply from Friday 31 July 2026.

What if this doesn’t work for your budget?

If the new pricing doesn’t suit you, get in touch and we’ll look at your options together. We’d rather help you find a plan that works than lose you.
