What is nbn Fibre to the Premises (FTTP)?

Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) is one of the fastest and most reliable types of nbn connections. It uses a fibre optic line that runs directly to an nbn connection box (also called a Network Termination Device or NTD) inside your home.

If this device hasn’t already been installed, someone over the age of 18 will need to be home for the technician visit. Here’s what to expect:

  1. The technician will connect a fibre optic cable from your street to an nbn utility box mounted outside your home.
  2. They’ll then drill a small hole through your wall to run the cable inside, connecting it to the nbn connection box (NTD).
💡 Tip: The nbn connection box needs power, so make sure there’s a power point nearby!

To get online, you’ll need a router with a WAN port that plugs into the nbn connection box. You can either use your own BYO router or grab one from us when you sign up.
