what equipment do I need to achieve nbn Home Superfast (250/25) speeds?

Our Fair Dinkum nbn 250/25 plan offers download speeds of up to 250Mbps and upload speeds of up to 25Mbps. However, to reach the speeds that this plan provides, a powerful modem/router is required.

Obtaining speeds of over 100Mbps is limited with many consumer-grade routers, and most ISP-provided devices won’t support these speeds.

You will achieve faster speeds if you use a newer, high-end modem/router. A Mesh WiFi router, consisting of a main router that connects directly to your nbn equipment and a series of modules placed around your house for full Wi-Fi coverage, is highly recommended for nbn™ Home Superfast services.

To achieve speeds of up to 250Mbps on our Fair Dinkum nbn 250/25 plan, you must use a modem/router with:

• A Gigabit WAN port – this will be labelled as 10/100/1000Mbps or Gigabit Ethernet;
• Gigabit LAN ports to support the speed over a hardwired connection – these will be labelled as 10/100/1000Mbps or Gigabit Ethernet;
• Minimum AC Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi 6 to support the speed over a Wi-Fi connection.

You should also ensure that you use a Category 6 (CAT6) Ethernet cable when connecting your modem/router to your nbn equipment.

Modem/routers that do not have a Gigabit WAN port or AC Wi-Fi/Wi-Fi 6 will not achieve the elite mates nbn™ Home Superfast plan’s speeds. Some examples of these devices include:
