If you have Fibre to the Premises (FTTP), the biggest clue is that you’ll usually have nbn equipment both outside and inside your home.
What to look for:
- A small nbn utility box on an outside wall, usually near the front of the home
- An nbn connection box installed inside your home
- The inside box will usually be near a power point
- Your router normally plugs into the nbn connection box, not straight into a phone wall socket

In simple terms:
- Fibre comes all the way into your home
- You’ll usually see a proper nbn connection box inside
- You normally do not plug your modem or router into an old phone socket
A good sign you have FTTP is if you can see a box outside your home and another nbn box inside with lights on it.
