How do I know if I have nbn Fibre to the Premises (FTTP)?

If you have Fibre to the Premises (FTTP), the biggest clue is that you’ll usually have nbn equipment both outside and inside your home.

What to look for:

  • A small nbn utility box on an outside wall, usually near the front of the home
  • An nbn connection box installed inside your home
  • The inside box will usually be near a power point
  • Your router normally plugs into the nbn connection box, not straight into a phone wall socket

Nbn Fttp Fibre Equipment New

In simple terms:

  • Fibre comes all the way into your home
  • You’ll usually see a proper nbn connection box inside
  • You normally do not plug your modem or router into an old phone socket

A good sign you have FTTP is if you can see a box outside your home and another nbn box inside with lights on it.

💡 Tip: If your router connects by Ethernet cable into an nbn connection box on the wall, rather than into a phone socket, there’s a good chance you’ve got FTTP.
