If you can’t make or receive calls, don’t stress. Most issues can be sorted with a few quick checks.
Start with the basics
First up, give your phone a quick reset:
- Turn your phone off and back on again
- Turn airplane mode on for a few seconds, then off again
- Make sure your SIM is properly inserted
Reset your network settings
If a restart doesn’t do it, resetting your network settings often will. We’ve got the step-by-step for iPhone and Samsung in our mobile troubleshooting guide.
Check your coverage
If your phone works in some spots but not others, it’s likely a coverage thing rather than a fault. Check the coverage map to see what’s available in your area.
Check for outages
Sometimes there’s a temporary network issue nearby. Check for known outages that could be affecting your service.
Make sure your device is compatible
Not all phones work perfectly on every network. For the best experience, your device should support:
- 4G bands: 700MHz and 1800MHz, with 2600MHz in some areas
- 5G bands: 850MHz (n5) and 3500MHz (n78)
Your phone also needs to be unlocked, meaning it’s not tied to another provider.
