What type of mobile phone can I use with MATE?

MATE uses the Telstra Wholesale Mobile Network for its mobile plans, so it’s important to make sure your device is compatible. For the best experience, your device should support the following bands:

4G network (LTE)

  • 700MHz (Band 28): Broad coverage with improved indoor reception.
  • 850MHz (Band 5): Wide area coverage, great for regional and rural areas.
  • 1800MHz (Band 3): A widely used frequency for 4G connectivity.
  • 2100MHz (Band 1): Another common frequency supporting 4G networks.
  • 2600MHz (Band 7): High-speed data, especially in urban areas.

5G network

  • 850MHz (Band n5): Powers many current 5G services.
  • 3500MHz (Band n78): Fast data and increased capacity for new 5G deployments.
  • 26GHz (Band n258): Ultra-fast speeds and capacity in dense urban areas.
đź’ˇ Tip: Not every band is available in all locations. To check which frequencies are active near you, visit the Radio Frequency National Site Archive (RFNSA).
⚠️ Heads up: Your device needs to be unlocked (not tied to another provider) and support 4G VoLTE to make and receive calls on MATE’s network.
