The MATE network uses Telstra’s 850Mhz 3G frequency band to make and receive calls, so you can use a MATE SIM card in any network unlocked mobile phone that is compatible with the 850Mhz 3G network band (B5).
If your mobile handset does not support the above 3G network band, it will not work. You will need a handset that is compatible with the 850MHz 3G network band.
Some handsets only support the 900MHz (B8) and 2100MHz (B1) 3G network bands – these will only work with Optus or Vodafone providers.
You should also make sure that your mobile phone is not locked. You can check this with your previous provider, or whoever you purchased the handset from.
