Do I need to be there for the installation of the nbn?

Whether you need to be home for your nbn installation depends on the type of appointment you’ve been allocated.

If you’ve been booked for a site appointment, someone over the age of 18 must be home for the full four-hour appointment window. This person will need to let the installer in and agree on the location of any required nbn equipment.

You do have the right to have a say in where the equipment is placed inside your home — as long as it complies with nbn’s standard installation requirements and is technically suitable.

💡 Tip: A standard installation generally includes wall-mounting equipment, drilling a small hole for cabling, and placing the nbn connection device in a practical, accessible spot.

If your installation is an exchange activation, you don’t need to be home. This type of connection is handled externally and doesn’t involve a technician entering your property.
