How do I know if I have nbn Fibre to the Curb (FTTC)?

Fibre to the Curb (FTTC) can look a bit like FTTN at first, because it also uses a phone wall socket. The difference is that FTTC usually has an nbn connection box inside the home as well.

What to look for:

  • A telephone wall socket
  • An nbn connection box plugged into that socket
  • Your router plugged into the nbn connection box

Nbn Connection Type Fttc

In simple terms:

  • Phone wall socket
  • Then nbn connection box
  • Then your router

If your router plugs straight into the phone socket, it’s more likely FTTN or FTTB. If there is a separate nbn box between the wall socket and your router, it’s more likely FTTC.

💡 Tip: If you’ve got a small nbn box sitting near your phone socket and your router plugs into that box, there’s a strong chance you’ve got FTTC.
