MATE mobile supports video calling over the 4G network only.
Most newer smartphones only offer video calling via the 4G (LTE) network, therefore many newer smartphones will not have the ability to initiate a video call over the MATE mobile network.
All video calls over the MATE 4G network are charged at additional rates – please see our mobile price table summary for more information.
For users with newer smartphones, we would always recommend using non-network video calling via apps on your device such as FaceTime, WhatsApp, Google Duo, Facebook Messenger, Skype and others.
These apps would use your smartphone’s internet connection – either a Wi-Fi network or your mobile data – and therefore, there are no additional network costs.
