Industry reporting puts this window at around 30 days.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Disconnection.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> If nothing is ordered during the suspension, the service is disconnected.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><b>The key difference:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> suspension can be reversed by ordering the upgrade. Disconnection can\u2019t.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What disconnection means in practice<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If your service is disconnected, you\u2019d need to order a brand-new nbn service to get back online. The consequence is losing your service, not a bill. And because the copper is being retired, any new service at your address would be on fibre anyway.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Who this applies to (and who it doesn\u2019t)<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><b>It applies to<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> homes and businesses on copper-based nbn in areas nbn selects for the program. Industry reporting identifies these as Fibre to the Node (FTTN) and Fibre to the Curb (FTTC) connections. nbn says it\u2019s starting with around 130,000 homes and businesses in the first year, with industry reporting suggesting around 20,000 a month after that.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>It doesn\u2019t apply today<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> if you\u2019re on Fibre to the Premises (FTTP), Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC), Fixed Wireless or satellite.
