When circumstances call for it, you can share internet access from your computer or mobile device with other people.<\/span><\/p>\n

Finding secure, reliable network connections on the go isn’t always easy. Public Wi-Fi isn\u2019t exactly known for its reliability, and with a hefty user load, your internet connection might suffer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Whether you\u2019re travelling alone or finishing a project over the internet with your colleagues, there are times when you need to make do with available networks. If, for whatever reason, one or multiple devices can\u2019t connect, there are things you can do.<\/span><\/p>\n

How to Share Your WiFi Connection From iOS With Personal Hotspot<\/span><\/h2>\n

Internet sharing is easy if you\u2019re using an iPhone or an iPad because of its built-in Personal Hotspot feature. Here\u2019s how to activate it:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Go to Settings and tap on <\/span>Personal Hotspot<\/i><\/b>. If you can\u2019t find Personal Hotspot, look for Mobile Data and then tap Personal Hotspot. If you still have no luck, contact your carrier and confirm if you can use personal hotspot capabilities with your plan.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Tap <\/span>Allow Others to Join<\/i><\/b>.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Tap <\/span>Wi-Fi Password<\/i><\/b> if you want to change the default password.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    From that point on, you can quickly turn on <\/span>Personal Hotspot<\/i><\/b> from <\/span>Control Center<\/i><\/b>. Just press hard on the network options, tap <\/span>Personal Hotspot<\/i><\/b> and you\u2019re good to go!<\/span><\/p>\n

      When you share your phone\u2019s mobile data to connect another device to the internet, that\u2019s called tethering\u2014and it\u2019s more of a general term. While tethering connections may involve wireless or physical media (like Bluetooth and USB tethering), a mobile hotspot only uses Wi-Fi.<\/p>\n

      Share your Wi-Fi connection from Android with Mobile Hotspot<\/span><\/h2>\n

      Most Android phones and tablets come with a mobile hotspot feature that allows you to share your cellular connection with other devices. The steps may vary slightly from one brand and model to another, but it\u2019s all pretty straightforward. For this example, we\u2019ll use Samsung Galaxy phones (S7 and later models).<\/span><\/p>\n

          How to Share Your WiFi Connection From Your Windows PC With Mobile Hotspot<\/span><\/h2>\n

          You can share your Windows PC\u2019s wired internet connection or cellular data with other devices over Wi-Fi. Here\u2019s how it works for Windows 10:<\/span><\/p>\n

          1. Go to the <\/span>Start Menu<\/i><\/b> > <\/span>Settings<\/i><\/b> > <\/span>Network & Internet<\/i><\/b> > <\/span>Mobile hotspot<\/i><\/b><\/li>\n
          2. In the <\/span>Share my internet connection from<\/i><\/b> dropdown, choose which network you want to share.<\/span><\/li>\n
          3. Click <\/span>Edit<\/i><\/b> to set your Wi-Fi network name and password.<\/span><\/li>\n
          4. Turn on <\/span>Share my Internet connection with other devices<\/i><\/b>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            To connect, you just need to find the network name and add the password on the device you want to connect, as we did in the previous sections.<\/span><\/p>\n

            How To Share WiFi Connection From Your Mac With Internet Sharing<\/span><\/h2>\n

            You can share your Mac’s wired internet connection with other computers in your local network. Here\u2019s how it works for macOS Ventura 13.<\/span><\/p>\n

            1. Go to the <\/span>Apple Menu<\/i><\/b> > <\/span>System Settings<\/i><\/b> > Click <\/span>General <\/i><\/b>> Scroll down and click <\/span>Sharing<\/i><\/b>.<\/span><\/li>\n
            2. Click <\/span>Info<\/i><\/b> (next to Internet Sharing).<\/span><\/li>\n
            3. Click<\/span> Share your connection from<\/i><\/b> and select the connection you want to share.<\/span><\/li>\n
            4. In <\/span>To computers using<\/i><\/b>, choose the port other computers use to access the connection.<\/span><\/li>\n
            5. If you choose <\/span>Wi-Fi<\/i><\/b>, click <\/span>Wi-Fi Options<\/i><\/b> and then set up your internet-sharing network.<\/span><\/li>\n
            6. When you’re done configuring the network, turn on <\/span>Internet Sharing<\/i><\/b>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
