Once your device has powered on, perform a HARD RESET to clear any previous ISP settings. To perform a hard reset:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Locate the small &#8216;RESET&#8217; hole on your device.<\/li>\n<li>Insert a small pin into the &#8216;RESET&#8217; hole, and hold for 10 seconds, ensuring you are toggling the button inside.<\/li>\n<li>You should see your device&#8217;s lights flicker or toggle. Your device will begin the reset sequence &#8211; allow up to 5 MINUTES for this to take place.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Once your device has finished performing the reset sequence, you will now need to plug an RJ-45 ethernet cable from the LAN4\/WAN port on the back of your modem\/router to the UNI-D port on your nbn device (as per your activation instructions).<\/p>\n<p>Your device should connect to the internet straight away, however allow up to 2 minutes for this.<\/p>\n<p>If your device has connected to the internet, great! You do not need to proceed any further.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you are still offline<\/strong>, proceed to next steps below for an alternate option to try and get online.<\/p>\n<h4>Step 2<\/h4>\n<p>Ensure that Wi-Fi is enabled on the device you are using to access your modem (e.g. computer\/laptop\/smartphone\/tablet). If you are using a smartphone or tablet, you should turn off your mobile data connectivity or any hotspot connection during this process.<\/p>\n<p>Connect to the Wi-Fi\/Wireless network of the TP-Link TD-W9970 on your computer\/laptop\/smartphone\/tablet. To connect to the Wi-Fi network of the modem, locate the Wi-Fi network name being broadcast by the modem from your device (e.g. computer\/laptop), select this network, then enter the password for this network when prompted.<\/p>\n<p>If you are unsure of the Wi-Fi password, this will be printed on the bottom of the TP-Link TD-W9970 modem.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PLEASE NOTE: YOU DO NOT NEED TO HAVE A WORKING INTERNET CONNECTION TO CONNECT TO THE WI-FI OF THE TP-LINK TD-W9970 OR ACCESS THE MODEM GATEWAY PAGE.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Alternatively, you can plug in an RJ-45 Ethernet cable from your computer or laptop to one of the four (4) yellow LAN ports on the back of the TP-Link TD-W9970.<\/p>\n<h4>Step 3<\/h4>\n<p>Open your web browser (e.g. Google Chrome\/Internet Explorer\/Mozilla Firefox\/Microsoft Edge), enter <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">192.168.1.1<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0into the address bar and press Enter.<\/p>\n<p>If this doesn\u2019t work, you can also try and enter the following: <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">tplinkmodem.net<\/span><\/strong> or <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>tplinkwifi.net<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>If successful, a login box or window should appear asking for a username and password. Enter <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>admin<\/strong><\/span> in the Username field;<\/p>\n<p>Enter <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>admin<\/strong><\/span> in the Password field. If this doesn\u2019t work, the password will be printed on the sticker on the bottom of the TP-Link TD-W9970 modem, usually labelled &#8220;Default Access&#8221;. Enter this password.<\/p>\n<h4>Step 4<\/h4>\n<p>Once you have logged in, click &#8216;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>ADVANCED<\/strong><\/span>&#8216; at the top of the page. Then, on the left-hand pane, click &#8216;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>OPERATION MODE<\/strong><\/span>&#8216;.<\/p>\n<p>Select &#8216;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>WIRELESS ROUTER MODE<\/strong><\/span>&#8216; and then press Save.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"mx-auto d-block\" src=\"https:\/\/www.letsbemates.com.au\/mate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/TP-Link-VR400-setup-configuration-Wireless-Router-Mode.png\" alt=\"Tp Link Vr400 Setup Configuration Wireless Router Mode\" width=\"1760\" height=\"800\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The modem will reboot &#8211; this may take a few minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Once the modem reboots, click &#8216;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>BASIC<\/strong><\/span>&#8216; at the top of the page. Then, on the left-hand pane, click &#8216;<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">INTERNET<\/span><\/strong>&#8216;.<\/p>\n<p>There will now be multiple options presented. Allow up to 2 minutes for this.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you are still offline, proceed with the PPPoE configuration instructions below to get online.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n"},{"label":"Get online with PPPoE: Step 1","content":"<p>Before you can update any settings, you will first need to reset the TP-Link TD-W9970 modem to its factory settings.<\/p>\n<p>To do so, with the device powered on, use a paperclip or similar tool to hold down the reset button on the back of the modem for 5-10 seconds. The modem will then restart &#8211; this may take a few minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Once the modem has been reset, ensure that Wi-Fi is enabled on the device you are using to access your modem (e.g. computer\/laptop\/smartphone\/tablet). If you are using a smartphone or tablet, you should turn off your mobile data connectivity or any hotspot connection during this process.<\/p>\n<p>Connect to the Wi-Fi\/Wireless network of the TP-Link TD-W9970 modem on your computer\/laptop\/smartphone\/tablet.
