Once it\u2019s on, you\u2019ll need to do a hard reset to clear any previous ISP settings. Here\u2019s how:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Find the small \u2018RESET\u2019 hole on your device<\/li>\n<li>Insert a paperclip or pin into the hole and hold it in for 10 seconds \u2013 you should feel the button inside<\/li>\n<li>You\u2019ll see the lights on your modem flicker \u2013 this means it\u2019s resetting. Give it up to 5 minutes to finish<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Remove the SIM card (important!)<\/h3>\n<p>If your modem has a SIM card in it, it\u2019s best to remove it before continuing. This stops the modem from trying to connect using the SIM instead of your MATE internet service.<\/p>\n<p>For Gen 2 modems, the SIM card slot is located on the <strong>back of the device under a flap<\/strong>. Open the flap, remove the SIM, and close it back up.<\/p>\n<h3>Connect your modem<\/h3>\n<p>Once the reset is done, plug one end of an RJ-11 telephone cable into the <strong>grey DSL<\/strong> port on the back of your modem, and the other end into a <strong>telephone wall socket<\/strong> in your home (check your activation email for which socket to use).<\/p>\n<p>Your modem should connect to the internet automatically \u2013 allow up to 15 minutes for this. <strong>Do not remove the DSL cable during this time.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If the WAN\/DSL light on the front doesn\u2019t go solid after 15 minutes and you have more than one wall socket in your home, try another socket. Plug your modem in, power it on, and wait up to 15 minutes for the WAN\/DSL light to go solid.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you are still offline<\/strong>, scroll down and follow the <strong>PPPoE configuration<\/strong> steps below to get connected another way.<\/p>\n"},{"label":"Get online with PPPoE: Step 1","content":"<p>Ensure that Wi-Fi is enabled on the device you are using to access your modem (e.g. computer\/laptop\/smartphone\/tablet). If you are using a smartphone or tablet, you should turn off your mobile data connectivity or any hotspot connection during this process.<\/p>\n<p>Connect to the Wi-Fi\/Wireless network of the Telstra Smart Modem Gen 2 (DJA0231\/LH1000) on your computer\/laptop\/smartphone\/tablet. To connect to the Wi-Fi network of the Smart Modem, locate the Wi-Fi network name being broadcast by the modem from your device (e.g. computer\/laptop), select this network, then enter the password for this network when prompted.<\/p>\n<p>If you are unsure of the Wi-Fi password, this will be printed on the back\/bottom of the Smart Modem.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PLEASE NOTE: YOU DO NOT NEED TO HAVE A WORKING INTERNET CONNECTION TO CONNECT TO THE WI-FI OF THE SMART MODEM OR ACCESS THE MODEM GATEWAY PAGE.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Alternatively, you can plug in an RJ-45 Ethernet cable from your computer or laptop to one of the four (4) yellow LAN ports on the back of the Smart Modem.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-10993\" src=\"https:\/\/www.letsbemates.com.au\/mate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Telstra-Smart-Modem-Gen-2_WiFi.png\" alt=\"Telstra Smart Modem Gen 2 Wifi\" width=\"700\" height=\"371\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.letsbemates.com.au\/mate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Telstra-Smart-Modem-Gen-2_WiFi.png 1212w, https:\/\/www.letsbemates.com.au\/mate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Telstra-Smart-Modem-Gen-2_WiFi-768x407.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n"},{"label":"Get online with PPPoE: Step 2","content":"<p>Open your web browser (e.g. Google Chrome\/Internet Explorer\/Mozilla Firefox\/Microsoft Edge), enter <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">10.0.0.138<\/span><\/strong> into the address bar and press Enter.<\/p>\n<p>If this doesn\u2019t work, you can also try and enter the following: <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">192.168.1.1<\/span><\/strong> or <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>192.168.0.1<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>If successful, a login box or window should appear asking for a username and password. Enter <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>admin<\/strong><\/span> in the Username field;<\/p>\n<p>Enter <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Telstra<\/strong><\/span> in the Password field. If this doesn\u2019t work, the password will be printed on the bottom of the modem.
