Issues with some older mobile devices calling Triple Zero<\/h2>\n

We have been advised that some older Samsung mobile devices may not correctly connect to the Vodafone mobile network when trying to make a Triple Zero (000) call if your main mobile network is unavailable.<\/p>\n

This means that in rare cases, if your device cannot connect to your regular network, it may not automatically switch to another available network to make an emergency call. To make sure your phone works reliably in an emergency, you will need to either update its software or use another compatible device.<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udca1 Tip:<\/span> Updating your device only takes a few minutes and can be done directly from your phone settings.<\/div>\n

What is happening?<\/h2>\n

When your primary mobile network is not available, your phone is designed to automatically connect to another available network such as Optus or Vodafone to make an emergency call to Triple Zero.<\/p>\n

Some older Samsung devices have been identified as not correctly connecting to the Vodafone network when this happens. The issue does not affect calls made while connected to the Telstra or Optus networks, and it does not affect Voice over Wi-Fi calls.<\/p>\n

How can this be fixed?<\/h2>\n

Most affected devices can be fixed with a simple software update completed directly on the phone. Some older models that are more than seven years old may need to be replaced because updates are no longer available.<\/p>\n

If your device is affected, you will need to update your software or use another compatible handset to ensure emergency calls work correctly.<\/p>\n

We will be contacting customers who are affected. If you are one of those customers, we strongly recommend taking action as soon as possible.<\/span><\/p>\n
