Here\u2019s what you need to know about the installation process.<\/p>\n<h3>1. What happens after I order a Fibre Upgrade?<\/h3>\n<p>Once you sign up to an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.letsbemates.com.au\/mate\/faq\/fibre-upgrade-eligible-plans\/\">eligible Fibre Upgrade plan<\/a>, we\u2019ll place your order with nbn. nbn will then:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assess your property to confirm eligibility.<\/li>\n<li>Schedule your technician appointment(s).<\/li>\n<li>Contact you directly (by SMS, email or phone) to confirm dates and times.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Some installations can be done in one visit. Others might need a second appointment, depending on how complex the work is.<\/p>\n<div style=\"margin-top: 1em; margin-bottom: 1.5em; padding: 1em; background-color: #d7f6e6; border-left: 5px solid #00b26b; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; line-height: 1.5;\" role=\"note\" aria-label=\"Helpful tip\">\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: 0.4em;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 600;\">\ud83d\udca1 Thinking about a Fibre Upgrade? Here\u2019s what you need to know:<\/span><\/div>\n<p><!-- Orders from 10 December 2025 --><\/p>\n<div style=\"background-color: #ffffff; padding: 0.9em; border-radius: 6px; margin: 0.6em 0;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 600;\">\ud83d\udcc5 Orders placed from 10 December 2025<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0.4em 0;\">You\u2019ll need to choose a plan <span style=\"font-weight: 600;\">nbn 500\/50 or higher<\/span> to upgrade, and stay on <span style=\"font-weight: 600;\">nbn 500 or higher for 12 months<\/span>. What should I expect during the installation?<\/h3>\n<p>An nbn technician will visit your home and complete the upgrade by installing:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>An <strong>nbn utility box<\/strong> (outside your home)<\/li>\n<li>An <strong>nbn connection box<\/strong> (inside your home)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>They will discuss placement with you on the day and get your approval before starting any work.<\/p>\n<h3>3. Will I need to be home?<\/h3>\n<p>Yes. An adult over 18 needs to be home during the appointment. They will give access and confirm installation details with the technician.<\/p>\n<h3>4. What if I\u2019m renting?<\/h3>\n<p>If you\u2019re renting, ask your landlord or property manager for permission first. This is important because the installation might need drilling or minor digging.<\/p>\n<h3>5. How long does the installation take?<\/h3>\n<p>Installations usually take 2 to 4 hours. However, they might take longer based on your property. If the technician can\u2019t finish the job in one visit, nbn will set up a follow-up appointment.<\/p>\n<h3>6. Will there be interruptions to my current service?<\/h3>\n<p>Usually, your current nbn connection stays active until the upgrade is complete. There may be a short downtime during the switch over, but we\u2019ll keep you in the loop.<\/p>\n<h3>7.
