The good news is that dropouts are not always caused by a fault on the nbn network, and there are a few simple checks that can help narrow down what\u2019s going on.<\/p>\n<div style=\"margin-top: 1em; margin-bottom: 1.5em; padding: 1em; background-color: #d7f6e6; border-left: 5px solid #00b26b;\" role=\"note\" aria-label=\"Helpful tip\"><span style=\"font-weight: 600;\">\ud83d\udca1 Tip:<\/span> Before going too far, try running a quick <a href=\"https:\/\/www.letsbemates.com.au\/mate\/faq\/service-test-nbn\/\">service test<\/a> in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.letsbemates.com.au\/mate\/mymate\/\">myMATE app<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/mymate.letsbemates.com.au\/\">self-care portal<\/a>. It can help show whether the issue is with your connection, speed or equipment.<\/div>\n<h4>First, work out what kind of dropout you\u2019re seeing<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 600;\">Wi-Fi or device drops:<\/span> Your devices disconnect, but your modem or router stays online.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 600;\">Connection drops:<\/span> Your modem or router loses connection to the nbn network.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div style=\"margin-top: 1em; margin-bottom: 1.5em; padding: 1em; background-color: #d7f6e6; border-left: 5px solid #00b26b;\" role=\"note\" aria-label=\"Helpful tip\"><span style=\"font-weight: 600;\">\ud83d\udca1 Tip:<\/span> If only your Wi-Fi drops out and your modem or router lights stay on, the nbn connection may still be working. This usually points to a Wi-Fi, equipment or home setup issue rather than an nbn network fault.<\/div>\n<h4>Why a fault may show as \u201cNo fault found\u201d<\/h4>\n<p>When you log a dropout fault, the nbn network checks whether your service is disconnecting at the network level.<\/p>\n<p>If your service stays connected for more than 24 hours during testing, the fault is closed as <span style=\"font-weight: 600;\">No fault found<\/span>. This means the nbn connection itself did not drop out while it was being monitored.<\/p>\n<h4>What to check next<\/h4>\n<p>If dropouts continue after a no fault found result, they\u2019re most commonly caused by Wi-Fi, equipment or local interference.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Restart your modem or router and nbn device (if you have one)<\/li>\n<li>Move closer to your modem or router and avoid walls or large appliances<\/li>\n<li>Disconnect unused devices that may be competing for Wi-Fi<\/li>\n<li>If possible, test using an Ethernet cable instead of Wi-Fi<\/li>\n<li>Test with another compatible modem or router if you have access to one<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div style=\"margin-top: 1em; margin-bottom: 1.5em; padding: 1em; background-color: #d7f6e6; border-left: 5px solid #00b26b;\" role=\"note\" aria-label=\"Helpful tip\"><span style=\"font-weight: 600;\">\ud83d\udca1 Tip:<\/span> Testing with an Ethernet cable is one of the quickest ways to rule out Wi-Fi.
