A few factors may limit your speeds:
- Your nbn connection type: only FTTP and some HFC connections can achieve 2000 Mbps.
- Your device capabilities: Not all modems and routers support multi-gigabit internet in Australia. So, check the device specifications.
- Your home network: Wi-Fi interference, router placement, and network congestion can affect speed.
- Peak-hour congestion – Speeds may drop during busy times (7 pm-11 pm).
What equipment do I need to achieve the fastest speeds on a 2000mbps nbn plan?
Router requirements
Routers for 2000 Mbps plans must support multi gigabit performance. Standard Gigabit routers are not suitable.
- Wi Fi 6 minimum
- Wi Fi 6E or Wi Fi 7 recommended for best performance
- 2.5 Gbps WAN port required

Started on a 12mb connection. It was so easy to get connected. Mates had the job done in 1 day when optus had taken weeks until I gave up. Second month I wanted to go up to 25mb connection and mate explained that well. When I stuffed up the dates mate helped me fix that too (even though it was 100% my stuff up). I received the modem within 3 days of the order and the set up was very simple. There was an issue with the NBN box as I use Wireless NBN. The call centre was very helpful.
